Okay, if you don’t know what Manga is, think Japanese comics. Or if you want the stereotyped shorthand, it’s the spiky-haired, big-eyed stuff with lots of sailor suits and kids running around collecting monsters. And when you get to bad Japanese animation, the hair becomes a character in itself with long strands flowing in the breeze, even indoors. It can be so much more, and I encourage you to check out the good stuff (hint: start with Osamu Tezuka).
